MEET THE ARTIST
Hi! I’m Mellissa, the artist and hands behind Scripted Calling. I am a self-taught calligrapher and engraver based in Pensacola, Florida.
I have been a creative my whole life - I crochet, draw, and have dabbled a tiny bit in woodworking. When I’m not working on a calligraphy project, you can find me on a soccer field watching my kids play. With two children in travel soccer, we are a hardcore soccer family year-round! On a very rare soccer free weekend, I enjoy spending time at home with with my husband, the kiddos, and our two rescue dogs - working on a project around the house, or watching crime shows on the ID channel.
I’m a sucker for a Vietnamese food, a gritty crime show, or a deep hug any time of the day. I’m a true ambivert—I thrive in solitude, working independently in deep thought, but can flourish in client-facing environments where I can create connections through my calligraphy for brand activations.

THE STORY BEHIND THE NAME
I have always been a creative person, but I never dreamed of starting my own business. However, there was always this burning longing that I could do it. In 2018, I noticed the upsurge of calligraphy on social medial and thought, “I could do that!”.
When it came to creating a name for my business, I felt that the words “scripted” and “calling” defined it perfectly.
SCRIPTED (verb):
Cursive, handwritten; something said or done that is planned before.
CALLING (noun):
A strong inner impulse toward a particular course of action, especially when accompanied by conviction of divine influence.
WHY WORK WITH ME?
Scripted Calling was born from a desire to express myself through the art of calligraphy. A true Advocate, I love designing a solution that changes people’s lives - whether it is through my craft of calligraphy or devising out-of-the-box solutions. Lettering for me is the perfect way to use my hands to create something beautiful and meaningful not only to me, but for you as well.
My belief is simple - every design and product are created with love and intention. Everything I do is crafted with this purpose.
